As 2021 comes to a close, we want to reflect on the past year and share what our team has accomplished. From expanding our reach through acquisitions to focusing on our sustainability efforts, here are our top achievements of 2021.
Initiated in 2016, the Million Pound Promise is a sustainability goal to remove one million pounds of packaging waste from landfills annually. We are proud to announce that we successfully achieved our goal this year by optimizing our customers’ packaging materials and processes. We strive to Package With Less, and as our President and CEO, Ryan Gallagher, states, “We aren’t just in the business of packaging and to make money. We want to have a purpose and reason to come into work every day.”
Rocket Industrial is committed to owning our place in the food industry as a preferred packaging supplier and has again achieved BRC Certification. BRC Certification assures our customers that the products we provide are of high quality and comply with all regulations. As Aaron Stelzl, Quality and Certification Supervisor, explains, “We are here to show the world that Rocket is committed to being a leader in food packaging safety for many years to come!”
At the beginning of 2021, Rocket Industrial acquired Harder Corp (Madison, WI) and United Paper (Menasha, WI). We are excited to fully integrate "Harder United" in 2022 to provide our customers with the best products and services in the industry. According to Rick Zimmerman, CEO of Harder United, “The combined resources, complementary strengths and cultural alignment of our companies will make us a regional powerhouse, with the support of a strong national supply chain. We have known Ryan and Rocket for some time, and it is a natural fit. We go into this with a great deal of mutual excitement.”
Over the past year, our team has been presented various awards for our commitment to the packaging industry, our suppliers, and our customers. These awards include the Circle of Excellence Award from Paragon Films, AFFLINK Member of the Year, and the Create, Connect, Inspire Award from Paragon Films. Zach Deering, Manager of Product Strategy, acknowledges, "Our awards show our dedication to disrupting the packaging industry with new, innovative, winning solutions."
At Rocket, we are dedicated to giving back to our communities. In fact, our employees have volunteered a total of 300 hours in 2021. We have also added 26 talented individuals to our team and began showcasing our employees in our monthly employee spotlight blogs. We also strive to create an environment and offer benefits that set us apart. Our Human Resources Business Partner, Katy Splinter explains, "We find value in supporting our employees’ wellness mentally, physically, and financially which is why we offer an Employee Assistance Program, gym reimbursements, and a financial wellness program."
