Employee Spotlight: Wes Hoffman

Rocket Industrial's Employee Spotlight series highlights a different employee every month, offering an inside look at our company culture and the awesome people who work here.

This month’s employee spotlight features Inside Sales Rep and Client Manager, Wes Hoffman Wes has worked at Rocket for 15 years. If you're ever called us for product information or ordered equipment from our website, you may have interacted with Wes. Throughout his various roles here his diverse experiences, innovative drive, and strategic leadership have been instrumental in the company’s success story. Before starting at Rocket, Wes served in the US Navy from 1986 to 1995 as a photographer and policeman.

What is something you are proud to have accomplished at Rocket?

I remember selling a stretch wrapping machine over the phone to Wrigley’s Chewing Gum back in 2009. Engineering a solution to Wrigley’s workflow problem was just the beginning of my services. Today Rocket is a leader in sales and supports customers nationwide with end of the line packaging equipment from our developed website. Being a part of this evolution has been a unique experience.

What are some current packaging trends you are seeing?

Derived from the lack of entry-level workers in the labor force, automation is a growing trend in the industry. Customers are looking to reduce labor costs and improve workflow, aligning with our motto “Package with Less”. From product ID coders to automatic pallet wrappers, manufacturers are shifting towards a “no operator” mentality, increasing our equipment sales.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I am active in several local veterans’ organizations. Patriot K9’s of Wisconsin, located in Wausau, is a non-profit program dedicated to training canines alongside veterans who experience traumatic brain disorders, PTSD, or military sexual trauma. At no cost to the vet, it has allowed many to reenter public realms without the anxieties that they once navigated alone. Knowing that on average 22 veterans commit suicide each day, as founding president of Patriot K9s of Wisconsin, I am proud of the beneficial support and necessary therapy that this program continues to provide.

Any other fun facts?

I like to say I am an amateur grill master. My top two favorites are tenderloin steak or chicken fajitas… I love the delicious flavor you get when you grill the tomatoes, peppers, and other fajita vegetables all together. Recently, I have especially enjoyed experimenting with my new smoker grill.
