Meet Inside Sales Representative

Meet Wes Hoffman, Inside Sales Representative

With over 36000 different packaging supplies and equipment available at Rocket Industrial; making sure our staff stays knowledgeable about the ins and outs of the industry is what separates us from the competition. Today we’re spotlighting Wes Hoffman, our insides sales representative. Wes Hoffman is one of the guys on the other end of the phone line when you call in to Rocket Industrial with questions about packaging equipment. Always ready to help, Wes had a big smile on his face when I sat down to interview him…

Before you started at Rocket Industrial you were in the Navy, can you tell me about your experience serving all over the world?

I joined the U.S. Navy in 1986 and served until 1995. As a US Navy photographer, I specialized in photographic equipment and camera repair. Probably my favorite memory was being stationed in Yokosuka Japan and once a year the chaplain would get a group of Navy volunteers to sponsor about 100 kids from an orphanage and take them to Tokyo Disneyland. Their faces said it all!

It seems you’ve walked quite the varied path as you’ve also owned your own business after the Navy?

Yeah, I was president of a Trout Production Hatchery with a staff of 14-16 people. We maintained 6 different trout ponds and sold fish to 4-5 star restaurants around the state. We also had a focus in corporate gift baskets which included several different types of trout, grilling accessories, and desserts. The gift boxes were picked up and distributed through the retailer Cabela’s.

How did that lead you over to Rocket Industrial?

Already having an electronics and service back ground, I used my G I Bill to get an Electro-Mechanical degree. Working full time 3rd shift and going to school during the day, after graduation I decided I wanted to spend more time with my family so I took a job as a service technician with Rocket Industrial, they have a family first attitude.

How has the transition into sales been? Does your service experience give you an edge?

I look at it like this, having serviced all of the equipment we sell at our brick and mortar customers, in a variety of production facilities, when a customer calls looking for guidance or recommendations, I am able to work directly with plant engineers and design engineers to ensure the new equipment will interface with the existing equipment in their facility.

Man of Honor Society

In your local community, you donate your time to something called the “Man of Honor Society.” Can you give an explanation of what that is?

The Man of Honor Society is an organization of Veterans in Marathon County, WI that support/raise funds to help other veterans in Marathons County. The first weekend in December we hand out over 600 hams, with the only requirement being that you’ve served honorably in the U.S. military. Last season we handed out over 566 hams in 12 minutes. Got to thank the 50 volunteers we had for that event.

Any other fun facts?

Yes, my wife and I have a 10 month old German Shepard, her name is Annabelle Rose. She is a ball of energy that requires constant supervision, but she is great with our grand kids and loves to play ball.

If you want to have any of your packaging equipment questions answered or need some service expertise Wes is always here to help.
